Sterna Elliniki
Overview
In a stunning location, perched above the Mousmouli cliffs and the Bougazi strait, lies the “Sterna Elliniki” – a water cistern of unique architectural design. Dating back to the Venetian era, this water cistern is built on the edge of a natural rock formation and has a circular shape. Water is still collected today from its slightly sloped upper surface, which channels it toward the center for efficient gathering. During times of war, it was used to supply ships with drinking water. Its remarkable construction, combined with the stunning views it offers, never fails to impress visitors.
